Covid-19 pandemic measures
These are the key changes in our shop:
We will stay OPEN unless we, or our family members, become infected.
REDUCED OPENING HOURS:
From week starting 20th April and until further notice:
Monday 9 am - 5 pm
Tuesday 9 am - 5.30 pm
Wednesday 9 am - 5.30 pm
Thursday 9 am - 5.30 pm
Friday 9 am - 4.30 pm
Saturday 9 am - 5 pm
At present we are following the law and guidance set by the government, so please stay at a distance of 2 metres from staff and other customers. This is nothing personal and we are not trying to be rude, it is simply the way we are meant to behave during these very difficult times.
Therefore we have a rule of allowing only a maximum of 3 people in the shop at any one time (including staff), so sometimes - especially during delivery times - this means there is only space for 1 customer. If this is the case please wait outside until a member of staff invites you in.
There are also stickers on the floor indicating the 2 m distance. If you are wondering why these are so close to the shelves, it’s because our shop is only 2.20 m wide!
I feel awful for having to do things this way, but once again, it is nothing personal and you are still very welcome in the store!
Our online shop will be disabled from time to time. Due to the extreme volumes of online orders from all over the UK we somtimes need to make the difficult decision to give priority to our ‘real’ shop and to dedicate our full attention to serving our local customers. We will enable the online shop at certain days of the week.
Please check the top of the page to see what the online shop status is.
The Click & Collect service is enabled 24 hours and you can collect your order during shop opening hours.
We’ve had a delivery of homebrew in again! So the majority of wine & beer kits and accessories are now back in stock. Unfortunately, because of the current situation and the fact our supplier is in the process of moving warehouse, some items are still temporarily out of stock. You can check the online shop for current stock levels.
Maximum 2 items each
We have also had to limit the amount of flour to 2 bags (of the same type) per customer, once again to prevent bulk buying. As mentioned previously, the online shop shows a maximum quantity of 2 for all items, but there should be more stock available for certain items in the shop itself.
Due to the sheer volume of phone calls we receive whilst attending to customers in the shop, we may not be able to answer the phone straight away or at all. Please be patient. An answering machine has been installed; sadly we are NOT able to return calls.
We are doing our utmost to keep the shop supplied with all basic food items, but sadly our wholesalers have been overrun too. There is hope on the horizon however as most things are now slowly coming back into stock again. We now have Sambucol, lemon myrtle products and flours (either bagged ourselves or in original packaging) back in stock. Bread yeast has also been coming in. Sometimes.
Because I need to assess the situation day-by-day, more updates can only be provided via Facebook or Twitter and in the shop itself. You can find us on:
