Seasonal Recipes containing Sunflower Spread
- Sorrel and Lettuce Soup
A green soup to celebrate the start of Spring! If you can't find sorrel, you can substitute it with spinach, although sorrel has a slightly acidic flavour. Sorrel can't be consumed by people suffering from kidney stones. This recipe contains 50g butter or margarine.
- Bean & Leek Pie
Fresh tomatoes are not in season in January, but you can use canned tomatoes. Go for organic ones if you can, because they have been sprayed a lot less. This recipe contains 50g margarine.
- Dutch sauerkraut and potato dish (Zuurkoolstamppot)
Another one of my favourite Dutch recipes. I make my own sauerkraut, but back in the Netherlands you could buy fresh sauerkraut from a fermentation bin. I doubt if you still can though... If you don't use all the sauerkraut, just keep it in the fridge and it will last for ages. This recipe contains Margarine or butter.
- Brussels Sprouts with hazelnuts, tatties and Tofu
A delicious classic seasonal recipe with a twist. By using tofu of choice instead of real meat, this vegetarian recipe is a treat for everyone. This recipe contains Suma Sunflower Spread.
- Sauerkraut with Butterbeans
Tasty way to use your (homemade) sauerkraut. Sauerkraut has lots of health benefits, besides that it's also virtually fat free. This recipe contains vegetarian margarine.
- Free From Christmas Cake
A delightful Free From Christmas Cake! To make this recipe alcohol free, simply replace the sherry with fruit juice. Make this recipe vegan by using the alternative to egg and butter! This recipe contains 150g butter (or vegan spread).
- Rhubarb and Apple Crumble
Who doesn't like a good crumble?! Rhubarb should be in season now, but you can sometimes buy forced rhubarb as early as February/March. Rhubarb is high in oxalic acid, so should be avoided by people suffering from kidney stones. This recipe contains 300g butter (or vegan margarine).
- Nut Roast
The picture might not look very appetising (after all, I make them myself!), but don't be fooled. This nut roast is actually really tasty and vegan too! This recipe contains Vegetable Margarine.
